Learning has been hacked.

Learning has been hacked.

In an era where everyone wants to learn one thing or the other for the purpose of either making money, becoming relevant in their place of work or whatsoever their intention(s) may be. It's crucial to actually know not just what you'd like to learn but how to learn and also your learning pace.

Before i continue i'd like to acknowledge Google Africa Developers Scholarship for giving me the opportunity to learn from one of the best (if not the best though) platform, Pluralsight.

Enough of all these, let's fly..... There are four levels of learning, and they are:

  1. The Knowledge/Fundamental level: This level is where you get the basics of whatsoever you wanna learn. It's in this level you try to get acquainted with the basics. At this level you slowly/lately get tasks done. This level of learning is fun mentally (that's why it's actually called fundamental) and most persons end up staying here for a very long time. It takes a level of hunger/passion to leave this level. The fundamental is what get you started, it gives you an edge over someone who hasn't learn such a thing throughout his/her lifetime. For developers i guess it was in this level you get to know how to declare a variable, display some kind of text like Hello, World! to the screen. The lifespan of this level is likened to that of a building's foundation - it never get obsolete.

The true definition of knowledge is KNOW Little and have an EDGE.

  2. The Information level: It's in this level you start seeking to know things/concept you weren't taught. Surfing through information on the internet - ranging from articles to youtube videos. It's when you get to this level that you start asking questions like "how to do this and that". I recommend you joining a community at this stage. The lifespan of the knowledge acquired in this level gets outdated easily, because, there are always and there will always be a better way of doing things.

  3. The Skill Level: This is a fight for competency. It's in this level you strife to practice what you've learnt so far. As a developer i'm sure you're not new to the word "build something". This level requires so much discipline and time plus a mentor, or someone you can always run to for reviews and corrections.

    Practice makes Perfect.

  4. The Expert/Innovation Level: This level is a call for total dedication and attention. It's in this level you get to bring solution to problems. People who find themselves here tend to write a blog, book or even a video tutorial. They are the ones that innovate new/better ways of doing things. This level deprive you of the time needed to learn something else, and that's because you're busy experimenting with one thing or the other. Let's say you wanna become a javascript expert, this entails that you stay on it not just for a year or two but for as many as possible.

Expert are innovators - They don't find solution to problems rather they innovate solution to seemingly impossible problems.

NOTE: You don't go through this level one at a time, you actually go through all of them at a time. You can become an expert even while at the fundamental level and that's by researching, practicing and innovating upon what you've learnt.
